TRF's PolicyMap.com is Live

Our friends at Placebase have been working with The Reinvestment Fund of Philadelphia to create PolicyMap.com, which launched earlier this week. We were priveleged to see a demonstration of PolicyMap.com a few weeks ago and have been anxiously awaiting the site's release.

One Step Closer

MoveSmart.org is pleased to announce that we have been awarded a $7,500 grant from the Field Foundation's Emergency and Technical Assistance Fund. This grant will fund two projects. A prototype of the site, featuring interactive maps and multiple layers of data, will be built by our friends at Placebase.com. Jason and Jaron have been an amazing resource during the formative stages of MoveSmart.org, answering my endless questions with clarity and insight.

John Lukehart

John Lukehart, a leader in fair housing and a long-time employee of the Leadership Council for Metropolitan and Open Communities, passed away last night.

New CHA Chairman

The Chicago Housing Authority has a new chairman. Cheers to Mr. Jordan for agreeing to tackle the CHA's Plan for Transformation, a truly massive undertaking which is now 5 years behind schedule.

Human Rights Day

There's been a push in the non-profit world over the last decade or so to adopt a human rights framework. MoveSmart.org understands its work through this paradigm. But this Thursday, it's time to take a break from talking about how we talk about human rights and celebrate them. The Illinois Department of Human Rights and the American Indian Center are hosting "The Chicago Native Community Experience" this Thursday in honor of Human Rights Day. Details are below.
